Job Description

As Software Developer, you'll be adding skills to Holly and bringing her capacity to new levels. You'll play a key role in a high-paced environment with ongoing iteration and short release cycles. You'll be working with top engineers to tackle a diverse set of problems: natural language processing, load distribution, automated scalability, efficient data synchronization, etc. You'll write automated unit tests of your own code to provide continuous feedback on quality. You'll also help make UI and UX decisions, and prototype experimental features. As one of the founding members of the development team, you'll need to be flexible and adaptive so that we grow and scale our business together.

What you'll do

• Help shape the direction of Holly's feature set and develop core Holly features
• Debug production issues across our stack
• Implement automated and exploratory testing processes
• Help make UI and UX decisions
• Get involved at all stages of the development and release life-cycle

What's required

We are heavy users of NodeJS 8, Loopback, Vue.js, Bulma, MySQL. However we like developers from different programming background as long as you can solve problems and are self-motivated.

As a plus we look for

• Strong understanding of Node/Javascript, its quirks and workarounds
• Good understanding of asynchronous websites and libraries, jQuery (hopefully Vue.js) experience
• Experience with asynchronous request handling, partial page updates and AJAX
• Knowledge of responsive design
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools, especially Git
• Web services, REST and JSON knowledge
• Demonstrated design and UX sensibilities

You are not expected to have expertise in all these areas. 

Part of our team is based in Santa Monica, California. We require conversational English for all positions.
